Looking for an easy way to label your plants? Make these rustic DIY Garden Plant Labels for FREE using items you already have laying around.

As you know, I’ve been working like a crazy woman on my English garden. Of course, being the OCD freak that I am, everything has to be neatly labeled so we can see what it is without searching through the rows.

So, I’ve been looking for cute garden plant labels and I found the most adorable way to make your own rustic garden markers without spending a single penny!

Unless, you don’t have a Sharpie laying around. Which would be insane, because everyone has a million Sharpies in every color…right? Okay…maybe that’s just me.

Either way…it’s either a free or really cheap project, because you can pick up a simple black Sharpie at any dollar store in the USA.

So, let’s make some garden plant labels, shall we?

How to Make Your Own Garden Plant Labels for Free

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Sticks/branches (about 1/2 inch in diameter and at least 10 inches long)
  • Sharp knife/scalpel
  • Sharpies/permanent marker

Gather your sticks/branches from around the woods.

Use a knife/scalpel to strip the bark from a 1 to 2 inch space on one side of the stick.

Write the name of your plant on the raw wood using a Sharpie or other permanent marker.

Stick your new garden plant label at the edge of your garden bed or row to mark your fruits and vegetables.
