How to Start a Blog for Your Creative Business
There are many different reasons to start a blog. But, if you’re in a creative business, the number one reason to have a blog is to share news, updates and sneak peeks of your new projects with customers. They like to see how you make things, what materials you use and most of all photos from the beginning steps to the end product.
It’s fun to see how things are done and people enjoy seeing what goes into your work.
Your customers also enjoy being the first to know about a sale or a new product line and having a blog is a great way to share all of these things with them!
So, how do you go about starting a blog when you don’t have a clue how or where to start?
Just, follow this simple tutorial I’ve put together for you!
I’ve included step by step instructions and as many photos as possible, along the way.
I hope it helps!
How to Start a Blog for your Creative Business
Just a note from me:
I highly recommend using Bluehost for your hosting, as suggested in the tutorial below, because they are offering a great deal starting at just $3.49/mo. for hosting! PLUS, that includes a free domain name and email address for your new blog! I don’t know how long this deal will last, so be sure to start your blog soon!
Because they continuously offer super low prices on hosting. They offer really great packages (starting at just $3.49/mo.) that include your new blog with a domain, subdomains, email accounts and more! It’s very simple to set up and you really don’t need to worry much about it after that. Plus, Bluehost offers 24/7 support, so, if you ever have trouble, just give them a call or head over to the website and start up a chat.

Once you’ve arrived at the Bluehost homepage, just click the green button that says “get started now”.
Choose your hosting plan from the available options…
I suggest going with the basic plan to get started. It’s cheap and if you decide blogging isn’t for you, you aren’t out any major amount of money.
Now that you’ve chosen your plan it’s time to pick a domain name for you new blog!
Think long and hard about this one…you’re stuck with it.
Here’s a few questions to ask yourself when choosing a domain name…
What is your business name? If it works as a domain name, then use it! It’s best to keep a nice continuum going throughout your business.
What is your name? If you don’t have an official business name and you just sell your crafts and/or creative designs on your own, use your own name for your domain.
What are you selling? If you don’t have a business name and don’t want to use your own name, what do you sell? If you sell earrings or jewelry made from stone, could you call your domain stoneearrings.com?
If the name you’ve chosen is not available (such as was the case with “stoneearrings.com”), you’ll have to choose another, but don’t worry!
They’ll give you a bunch of choices.
And now, it’s time for the final sign up!
Fill out your account information.
Check your package choice and include any add-ons that you might like.
Then, of course, provide your credit card information to pay for your hosting.
I highly recommend paying for at least 1 year at a time, but to maximize your savings, choose the 36 month option. You can always get a refund if you’re not happy.
Not only does it save you even more money, but you won’t have to work about paying for it each month.
Instead, you can spend more time blogging about your creative business!
Okay, now that your hosting is all set up it’s time to install WordPress…
Click the image above to watch the full tutorial or read the simple instructions below…
Open your cPanel in your Bluehost account.
Select MOJO Marketplace. Then, select “One-Click Installs”.
Choose “WordPress” from the “Blogs & Website Builders” options. Then, click the green “Install” button.
Select your domain name (the one you chose above).
Edit the WordPress email address, username and password for your installation.
Read through the license agreement and check the box, if you agree to the terms.
Click the green “Install Now” button to begin your WordPress installation.
