How to Turn Pickle Jars into “Granite” Storage Containers

When I started out with the bathroom vanity makeover last week, I had simple plans of redoing the sink and painting the bathroom walls.

But, somewhere along the way my inner designer jumped out and I haven’t been able to stop remodeling the bathroom!

I have literally transformed the whole room but, luckily, my frugal self has full control so, I’ve been able to do it all without spending a ton of money.

I’m pretty proud of myself, I must say. And I can’t wait until it’s done so I can share it with you!

If you follow me on Instagram or Twitter, you’ve probably seen quite a few sneak peeks of the transformation, because I’ve been posting them at an annoying rate.

But, since I have a few small things left to finish, the full reveal will have to wait for another post.

“Granite” Storage Containers

In the meantime, I thought I’d share how I turned a couple of pickle jars into “granite” storage containers for my toilet cleaning supplies.

I try hard to be frugal and I like to recycle and reuse as much as possible, hence the pickle jars. But, there are some things that I won’t reuse and toilet brushes are one of them.

I am not a fan of the old fashioned swish and brush, then stick it behind the toilet. I think they’re gross and I refuse to use them.

And so, my grocery list always includes a package of Scrubbing Bubbles Fresh Toilet Brushes.

I’ve been using these things religiously for years and I love them. They leave the toilet sparkling clean and they smell great.

But, the box isn’t exactly pretty to look at and since I’m making my bathroom beautiful, I had to make something just as beautiful to store them in.

The theme in my newly decorated bathroom is sort of shabby-rustic (if there is such a thing) and so, I knew jars of some sort would be the perfect storage containers.

And lucky for me, I picked up a slew of new spray paints on clearance at Wal-Mart last week (for $1.50 a can!!) and one of them was a granite finish that is almost the perfect match to my vanity counter!
